Policy

1.1

SY Plus Limited recognises that employees being under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other substances will impair their performance and may have serious adverse effects on the safety, efficiency and productivity of themselves, other employees, and SY Plus Limited as a whole.

1.2

The following actions, whilst on SY Plus Limited business or premises, or whilst attending a social event organised by SY Plus Limited, are prohibited:

(a)

The misuse of prescription drugs

(b)

The use, possession, distribution, purchase or sale, of illicit or un-prescribed controlled/illegal drugs

(c)

Being unfit for work because of use of drugs or alcohol – including testing positive on an alcohol or drugs test

1.3

Any breach of this policy will be considered as Gross Misconduct and may result in summary dismissal.

1.4

Employees, who, in the opinion of their manager, are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, will not be allowed to remain at work. You will not be paid for any period of absence resulting from this.

1.5

This policy applies to all workers, including permanent employees, temporary staff, agency staff, and contractors.
